"Software developed by an Israeli team is giving intriguing new hints about what researchers believe to be the multiple hands that wrote the Bible. "The new software analyzes style and word choices to distinguish parts of a single text written by different authors, and when applied to the Bible its algorithm teased out distinct writerly voices in the holy book." Biblical scholars have long done this type of analysis 'manually' without the aid of computers. It is clear, for example, that more than one author/editor contributed to the Gospel of John. These words seem to be of an editor/author, not the author John: {21:24} This is the same disciple who offers testimony about these things, and who has written these things. And we know that his testimony is true. {21:25} Now there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if each of these were written down, the world itself, I suppose, would not be able to contain the books that would be written. Also, the references in the Gospel to John as 'the disciple whom Jesus loved' are more likely the work of a later editor. John, being humble, would probably not distinguish himself in this way. But one of his disciples, completing his work, certainly would.
