Default Sad Times: Nun gives birth in Italy

A nun who gave birth to a baby boy in the central Italian city of Rieti, said she had no idea she was pregnant, local media report. To summarize, the woman's name is being withheld for her privacy but is originally from El Salvador. She is 31 years old and she will keep the child, a boy, and raise him at the convent along with the help of the sisters.

They still have no idea who the father might be:

Thumbs down this is just plain weird

I read both the posted articles & nothing tells us if this
women was ever engaged in fornication, if she was married
and her husband died before she entered the convent (unlikely but
possible) or what the circumstances are surrounding this
strange event.

The articles hint that the nun must have been sinning but its
not clear from the sparse facts.

Jerry,

Good point in that there may be a logical explanation. The follow up news on this topic indicate that the woman was a nun when she became pregnant while on a trip to her home country. She has since been told she can no longer be a nun as she has broken her vow of chastity and must live among the laity.
