Default Retirement age for priests?

Here is an interesting news article about a priest not wanting to retire.

The age is officially set at 75 in the case of priests. I know that the Pope Benedict will probably keep going like JPII until he dies in office.

Rather than age, do you think the church retirement criteria should be primarily based on the overall condition of their heath, for their ability to perform their tasks?

The Bishop can give exemptions, so that a priest is not compelled to retire at a certain age. Also, a priest in retirement may still have an assigned parish, where he is pastor emeritus. Similarly, the Pope can permit a Bishop to continue in office past the age of retirement.

In general, it is useful to have some type of age guidelines, and to have a path to graceful retirement for priests and Bishops, a path that still allows them to work for Christ to whatever extent they are willing and able.
