Default Pope Francis Calls Extraordinary Synod on Family and Marriage

Pope Francis Calls Extraordinary Synod on Family and Marriage

Pope Francis’ first Synod of the Bishops will be, quite literally, an “extraordinary” one. Today the Vatican announced that Pope Francis will host an Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops to discuss the topic, “The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization.” The meeting will take place in Rome, October 5-14, 2014, and the issue of divorced and remarried Catholics will almost certainly be on the table.

I suggest that the issues might also include married priests and women deacons.

Thumbs up I agree

I agree, Ron. The first thing that popped into my head when I read the
post was that something controversial will happen leading to the great apostasy.

Also, Catholic families will be called to be more missionary by example and deed than recent times, where there has been a decadence of attitude (By the way, Clerics will also be called to be more active in the missionary approach). Putting in practice the Baptismal promises.
