Default "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Is there any scriptural reference to the sufferings of the victims of September 11? or is it what Dr. Phil says "there's no why!" ...?

Tradition and Scripture have teachings on suffering in general, but not on that specific event in particular.

Some persons suffer because of their own sins.
Other persons suffer innocently, like Christ.

Most human suffering is a mix of the two types of suffering. We are sinners, so we deserve some punishment; but we also often suffer more than we deserve in various particular circumstances.

Death is a punishment for sin. All Christians, upon their death beds, should accept death as a punishment for all the sins of their life.
