Thumbs up Saw "Son of God" yesterday-plz see it

I saw "Son of God" (SOG)yesterday; there was nothing in the movie inconsistent with the Bible or Catholic faith;
I saw it on a Sunday and was surprised the theater was not full though there was a good turnout.

There was some clapping at the end. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

This is not on the "Passion of the Christ" level which dealt primarily only with one
segment of the life of Christ.

I especially liked that SOG showed several post-burial portions where Jesus appears to his apostles. Even the Ascension is shown.

To cover as much ground as they could, the producers had to abbreviate a few things.
This is not time for Catholics to quibble about picky little tidbits.

I was suprisingly pleased when, near the very end, the narration stated that the christians began spreading the Gospel "with Peter as our leader". That
definitely sounded very Roman Catholic.

Moreover, the primacy of Peter was reflected throughout the film.

We should get fully behind this faith-based movie and support it with our time & money.

How much longer will we have to wait for another edifying christian movie???

I saw the movie, I think it was good and I recommend it for people to check it out, especially anyone who may be interested in near-death experiences.

People who read the book the movie is based on, say that it does not show a moment when the kid sees the Virgin Mary in Heaven.

Another movie I saw is "God is Not Dead", I also recommend this movie. The movie tries to explain the existence of God to non-believers.

Both "Heaven is for Real" and "God is Not Dead" was made by Protestant Christians, so from a Protestant perspective, but I didn't notice anything contrary to Catholic teaching on these movies.

Going to "Son of God", it's interesting that the Catechism teaches that people who called Him "son of God" does not necessarily imply that He was more than human or that He was divine, just that He was a good person in fellowship with God. So, "Son of God" does not imply "The Messiah". It was St. Peter who coined who Jesus was. CCC #'s 441 & 442.

I have to add that even though the term "Son of God" does not necessarily imply "The Messiah", Jesus is literally the only Son of God [The Father], and God Himself; therefore, the Messiah.
