Default A word for our times!

Looks like I'll be able to sneak in one comment regarding the first chapter before we move on.

{1:36} You should not be incredulous to the fear of the Lord. And you should not draw close to him with a duplicitous heart.

How little our culture even acknowledges wrongdoing toward God! In Ps 51, David claims all sin is ultimately an arrow in the heart of God, so to speak; the little that grates on people (i.e. smoking, global warming, intolerance), are considered "offenses" on a human, horizontal plane, only. We are indeed incredulous to the fear of the Lord.

Duplicity is actually a sin with which I struggle. It is a form of hypocrisy I tend to slip into. If I look pious on the outside to others, and yet fail to try and uproot the sin I so easily commit in the privacy of my home life, duplicity has taken root in my heart.

Help me Jesus!
