Default Music, feeling, and faith.

Some one remember this lyric?
Quote:
Title: (You guess it )

Many nights we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains
Long before we knew we could

[Chorus:]
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe

In this time of fear
When prayer so often proves in vain
Hope seemed like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Yet now I'm standing here
My heart's so full, I can't explain
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I'd say

[Chorus]

They don't always happen when you ask
And it's easy to give in to your fears
But when you're blinded by your pain
Can't see your way clear through the rain
A small, but still, resilient voice
Says help is very near

[Chorus]

So, what I want to talk about is the relationship between music, feeling, and faith. First of all, the music I mean here is not that rocky music, but the music which lyric and tone are somewhat healing for our minds and spirit or feeling. I don't know about you, but for me that liturgical music at the church had a great effect. It's like the music element when you are watching film, you can imagine a film without music will become boring and flat. I think music is like an amplifier for our mind and feeling, so when you set your mind and feeling at some think, and appropriate music come in addition, the result you got is somewhat awesome. So, it depends on where you set your mind to think. If you set your mind to God and all about God's goodness, and appropriate lyric and music come, the result will be a nice healing for your soul, your faith become more firm, and you will feel more alive. Like that Christmas time I've experienced before at my church. The choir is so great and the music and the lyric all is supporting each other, it's a wonderful experience, after that mass I feel much more alive never than before.. waow.. I don't know why the music had a great effect for me. I don't know about you, but when I'm at desperate condition, at confusion, at darkness of my life, that lyric and music I gave you above is my first medicine for my mind and soul. So do you have a lyric or sentence that after you think about it, you became stronger, alive again? Will you share it here? You know, I like to read and think about sentences or lyrics that can make me feel better in God and increase our faith. Much I found this kind of sentences in the bible, so bible is surely a great book ever on this earth now, and ever shall be, world without end (hmm.. why now it's like The Glory Be prayer ), there is no other book greater than bible for us all Catholic believer. Peace to you

Interesting, I was listening this other particular song on the radio a few days ago and it called my attention more than before (Maybe because I wasn't as religious as now before). It's called "If God is one of us" by Joan Osbourne.

The lyrics are as follows:

"If God had a name, what would it be
And would you call it to His face
If you were faced with Him in all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home

If God had a face what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints and all the prophets

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home
He's trying to make His way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the Pope maybe in Rome

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home
Just trying to make His way home
Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to heaven all alone
Just trying to make His way home
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the Pope maybe in Rome".

The song that doesn't fail to cheers me up is Ave Maria by Franz Shubert.

The one sang by Pavarotti is great!

Ave Maria
Gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Et benedictus fructus ventris
Ventris tuae, Jesus.
Ave Maria

Ave Maria
Mater Dei
Ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Ora pro nobis
Ora, ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Ave Maria.

Hello brother, nice music, Ave Maria? One of my favorite too, very calming indeed, but Ave Maria is in Latin language, do you understand Latin language? Could you translate it in English, so I can understand the lyric?

note: you know, Latin language is kinda cool to speak for. , And doctoral and medical term is usually use Latin language for the name of living thing live on this earth. And if you know, what is Pax Vobis mean, and also A.M.D.G. et B.V.M., it's JuanLuis signature, hi JuanLuis do you know what your signature translation in English, I think I've seen it somewhere (A.M.D.G. et B.V.M.)?

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Schubert's lyrics were very different than the Latin Ave Maria. It was originally set to a poem by Sir Walter Scott called The Lady of the Lake. It is still a mystery as to who set the Latin text to Schubert's melody.

AD MAIOREM DEI GLORIAM ET BEATAE VIRGINE MARIA, sounds cool
What about "In the name of The Father and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen". Do you know what is it in Latin language?

I was listening to the radio today when I heard a song written some years ago whose lyrics seemed so appropriate for the Warning, I am sure most of you know it; it's Celine Dion's "A New Day Has Come"

A new day, oh oh
A new day, oh oh

I was waiting for so long
For a miracle to come
Everyone told me to be strong
Hold on and don't shed a tear

Through the darkness and good times
I knew I'd make it through
And the world thought I had it all
But I was waiting for you

Hush, now
I see a light in the sky
Oh, it's almost blinding me
I can't believe
If I've been touched by an angel with love

Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the walls for a new sun
A new day has come, oh

Where it was dark now there's light
Where there was pain now there's joy
Where there was weakness, I found my strength
All in the eyes of a boy

Hush, now
I see a light in the sky
Oh, it's almost blinding me
I can't believe
If I've been touched by an angel with love

Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the walls for a new sun

A new day has

Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the walls for a new sun
A new day has come, oh

Hush, now
Well I see a light in your eyes
All in the eyes of the boy
I can't believe
If I've been touched by an angel with love
I can't believe
If I've been touched by an angel with love

Most music I hear in the radio nowday is full of immorality and not inspiring at all. I hope after the warning to be able to listen to some more spiritually inspiring music than the current repertoirs.
