Default Abstaining from meat on Fridays

The Bishops of England are encouraging all the faithful to abstain from meat on Fridays.

It still is a rule in the Church to abstain from meat on all Fridays, not merely those of Lent. The faithful can substitute some other penance if they wish, but the practice is an ancient tradition that should not be abandoned by the Church.
